Flypaper Textures: Update

So, Paul over at Flypaper Textures tells me he and partner Jill have tutorials planned for their site/blog, and that they do texture giveaways, so you should add them to your blogroll, if you haven't already. :)  I'm betting that once you use one of their textures, you'll want the whole set.  They're marvelous, subtle textures, so they blend.  ...And now I feel like Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny.  ("Oh, yeah. You blend.")  Point is, the texture isn't what people will see when they look at your photographs.  Textures are a delicate thing, in my opinion, and they don't always enhance an image so much as distract, but anyway.  Flypaper Textures are really nice textures!

Since I know everyone doesn't read the comments after posts - which you guys should do here, since the people we highlight sometimes comeback and comment with more information and stuff - I wanted to post again so everyone is aware. :)

Photographers: Flypaper Textures

I really like the photography over at Flypaper Textures.  The textures don't suck, either. ;)  (they also aren't free, sadly)

Flickr Membr: Playing With Brushes

If you're looking for vintage textures, you can't hope for better than Playing With Brushes' Creative Commons set. Outstanding, large size file images perfect for texturizing or scrapping.

And if you're looking for a creative way to stage a mosaic, check out her Mosaics set. Wow.

PWB is one of my favorite fellow Flickrites. Her stream is always a gorgeous piece of eye candy to go through. :) Be sure and check all her sets; she offers way more for download than what I could go into here. :)

Michelle Black Actions

In addition to being a stellar photographer, Michelle Black offers some kick butt actions for Photoshop, including RAW presets, if you're one of them thar RAW peeps. I am a HUGE fan of her Soft Bleach-Out Glaze and Faux Soft Filter actions, as well as her High Key B&W action. Check those and more out at her resource site, which includes textures, templates, and business forms for photographers. Don't forget to read her blog, for eye candy galore and tons of examples of her actions and textures at work. :)

Lakshal Perera

AKA the Mullet God for a longstanding joke between him and his friends, Lakshal "Lucky" Perera takes gorgeous nature shots, dramatic travel images, and wedding/portraits that are outside the norm in all the very best ways. His portraits look more like candids which also happen to showcase his subjects' best features, rather than posed shots. They're awesome and exactly the kind of shots I'd want to be able to take, if I did that kind of photography. He makes me want to learn that kind of photography, just so I can aspire to his level. :)

In addition to his professional website, which also features a great blog, Lakshal has a set of Photoshop actions he offers free, and I heartily recommend you take him up on it. They're really first rate actions, bound to make your processing easier.
